What About Bird Cages?

Let's face it: most of us don't have our birds outside of their cage all day, everyday. This would be absolute chaos for me! The goal is to build a bird room or conservatory at the next house, but the house I live in right now is MUCH too small for anything like that. And even when I build Petrie (and all of my future birds 😊) a bird room, I will still use cages! Why? Because even though bird cages have such negative associations, there are actually a lot of benefits to having your bird spend some time in their cage! First and foremost, just like us, birds like to have their own space sometimes! Their cage is totally theirs and is a safe-zone, which leads me to my next point. Bird cages are portable, which means that if at any point you move to a new house, you can bring your bird's portable safe-zone along with them. Entering new environments can be scary, so brining along their familiar safe-zone cage can really help make your bird more comfortable. The same can be said for if you ever do any major home renovations!

Ok, so bird cages themselves aren't so bad. But how do you choose one for your bird? There are so many styles, sizes, finishes, and shapes out there it can make you dizzy trying to pick the right one out! Not to worry, I've made a convenient Cage Guide that will help you put together the best cage for your bird, from picking out the actual cage to filling it with perches and toys. Check it out!
