Recognizing Household Hazards

If you're anything like me, you get overwhelmed by the sheer number of potentially hazardous items to our parrots' health. But here's the deal: it doesn't need to be complicated! A good rule of thumb is this: if you wouldn't consume it, assume that it is toxic to your bird! And remember, bird's have MUCH more sensitive respiratory systems than we do, which means that inhalation hazards to humans are WAY more hazardous to our feathered friends. As such, amongst other things, make sure your carbon monoxide detector is working, steer clear of non-stick pans and self-cleaning ovens, and keep your nail polish and other headache-inducing household items away from your birds!
